In an alleged case of police brutality, two men were injured after being allegedly attacked by a station officer and several policemen on August 14. While one of the men, who was was taken to Delhi for treatment, died today.

ALIGARH: In an alleged case of police brutality, two men were injured after being allegedly attacked by a station officer and several policemen on August 14. While one of the men, who was was taken to Delhi for treatment, died today.
His family protested at the police station demanding action against the station officer Gabhana Mohammad Aslam, who allegedly attacked Asif Mehruddin, 27, resident Upar Kot, so brutally that he died.

Gulzar Ahmed, convenor UP Minorities Welfare Association, said "We demand fair inquiry in this case and the administration should provide compensation to his family."
According to the complaint of Mohammad Nadeem, his brothers Asif Mehruddin, 27 and Mohsin Nizamuddin, 22, were brutally beaten by policemen.
"My brothers were returning from Khurja after borrowing some money from a relative. Some policemen stopped them and searched their belongings. On finding the Rs 20,000, the police took away the money. When my brothers resisted, they were beaten with pistol butts and belts," he said in the the complaint, addressed to Aligarh senior superintendent of police (SSP) Love Kumar
Aligarh SSP said, "The men were trying to evade a police team and driving without a licence. In our probe so far we have found no evidence to support the family's complaint alleging brutality by the station officer."
The highway patrol team has corroborated cops claim that it was an accident. Samajwadi Party MLA Zameer Ullah Khan has expressed support for the family and demanded a fair investigation.
